69th annual conference of Cardiological Society of India

The recent 69th annual conference of Cardiological Society of India which was held from 30/11/2017 to 03/12/2017 at Kolkata was done under the leadership of Dr. K. Sarat Chandra who was President-Elect, CSI. The meeting was attended by more than 4000 delegates from all over India.

Several international professional bodies like American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association (AHA) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC) participated in joint sessions with CSI during this conference. Subjects on Interventional Cardiology, Heart Failure, Imaging and Preventive Cardiology were discussed during this meeting. This helps the delegates in taking part in a holistic approach to tackle and eradicate Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD). During this meeting Dr. K. Sarat Chandra has taken over as President for CSI for the year 2018 and he was honored with a gold medal.

Dr. Alluri Vasu, MD Speech about First Aid on 27/10/2017

On 27/10/2017, Dr Alluri Vasu, MD spoke about “First Aid” subject at Voltas Office in the evening from 05:15 PM to 06:39 PM as per the wellness program fixed by Health India Insurance TPA. Nearly 50 employees attended the session. They have shown good interest to come to us for further guidance in health matters.

Lecture by Dr. K. Sarat Chandra at Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences on 08/10/2017

Dr. K. Sarat Chandra, Chief Cardiologist, Indo US Hospital has been invited to deliver the prestigious Dr. P. S. NAYAK memorial oration at the annual conference of the Karnataka State Chapter of Cardiological Society of India. He spoke on the subject of atrial fibrillation and how to modify drug therapy when such patients come with acute coronary syndrome.

He was awarded a gold medal and a citation for the same. In addition, he spoke about women and heart disease during the same meeting. The meeting was held at Raichur at the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences on 08/10/2017.

#World Heart Day

Indo-US Super Speciality Hospital is offering Cardiac Health Check on 28/09/2017 & 29/09/2017 on the occasion of World Heart Day.

World Heart Day is a campaign established to spread awareness about the health of heart among common people all through the world. This initiative was founded in the year 2000 to inform people to take care of their heart. A huge percentage of common public in the society is suffering from the heart diseases like stroke, heart attack, heart failure, etc. Heart problems are the leading causes of death in the world.

It is celebrated annually all over the world on 29th of September. A particular theme is decided for the each year celebration in order to focus on the main subject and make it effective. The theme is prepared by keeping in mind the key issues of heart health. According to the World Heart Federation, at least 80% of the premature deaths (because of cardiovascular diseases) can be protected by controlling four main risk factors such as unhealthy diet, tobacco use, lack of physical activity and use of alcohol.

The heart-related problems and deaths can be solved by the active involvement of the common public through the campaign of world heart day. Various governmental and private organizations including NGOs all around the world are working to spread the awareness of CVD (cardiovascular disease-the world’s number one killer).

Invitation from European Society of Cardiology

Dr. K. Sarat Chandra, Chief Cardiologist, Indo-US Super Speciality Hospital, Hyderabad has been recently invited to deliver a lecture on Atrial Fibrillation in patients undergoing Angioplasty at the prestigious Annual Congress of European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He spoke on what special precautions to take while doing such a case. Dr. Sarat Chandra said that there is a rise of such cases in India because of increasing age of the population and due to the need for a combination of anticoagulants and anti platelet agents there is a high risk of bleeding. For these reasons special precautions have to be taken which were elaborated during the lecture.

The annual meeting of ESC was held at Barcelona, Spain from 26th to 30th August, 2017 and drew nearly forty thousand delegates from 141 Countries. Many land mark trials in cardiology were presented during the conference. He also participated in a leadership meeting held between European Society of Cardiology and Cardiological Society of India. Dr. Sarat Chandra mentioned that several new avenues of co-operation were discussed between European Society of Cardiology and Cardiological Society of India in research and patient education and would be implemented in due course.

Dr. K. Sarat Chandra has been invited to deliver a talk on 13/08/2017 at the second annual meeting of American College of Physicians (ACP) chapter of India at New Delhi. The meeting was held under the auspices of the Association of Physicians of India. Dr. Muruganathan, former President of API organized this event. Dr. Sarat Chandra gave a lecture on different facets of HYPERTENSION during which he described several cases of secondary HTN which he treated during the last 26 years of his professional life. He described cases of patients who presented with Pheochromocytoma, Primary Aldosteronism, Takayasus’s Arteritis, Coarctation of Aorta and so on. The talk was well attended by nearly 250 delegates.
